King Solomons Mines-Book Review/Summary
I read the book recently and came up with a summary. It is a great book by H.R Haggard. It is basically a fictional story and is adventurous.
The Story is basically of three gentlemen, named Cap’n Good, Sir Henry and an explorer Quatermain on a breathtaking adventure to a place not discovered before. On their way to “Nowhere”, they happen to go accross the vast lanscapes of Africa and experience the superstitious beliefs of African tribes. They finally get to the treasure at last after a lot of struggle and like most fictional novels and short stories, they live happily ever after.
The thing I liked about the book is the adventure and realistic way of writing of the author. I am a fan of H.R Haggard now, after reading this one book of his.
All adventure lovers must read this book.
I read this fantastic book called Little Women. That story was really inspiring to me and connected to real life situations that people have these days. It is about a family with four sisters that are growing up and start having problems. While their father is at The American Civil War. The father gets sick so their mom has to leave them and the four sisters are left alone. While her mom is away Beth the third oldest sister gets very sick and when their father and mother come back she dies. So like this the family suffers. I feel that the author did an exellent job of writing this story because it can inspire lot of people in life. I would realy suggest for people to read this book and see how someones life may be.
I read the book Matilda. Its really a nice book.

Book Review Of Shadow Forest
By Matt Haig
Shadow Forest tells the story of Samuel Blink and his sister Martha. They have recently been made orphans by a freak accident and shipped off to live with their only living relative in Norway, Aunt Eda, who feeds them brown smelly cheese and forbids them to enter the forest outside her lodge. Within a matter of days of arriving in their new home, Samuel realises that nothing is quite what it seems. When his Aunt tells the story of their Uncle Henrik entering the forest some years ago and never being seen again; Samuel is not entirely happy with this relocation. When his sister, who has not spoken since the death of their parents goes missing in the forest, Samuel knows that he must risk his own safety to save her.
Shadow Forest is told from the perspective of the reluctant hero Samuel Blink. Armed only with a strange book he has found in his Aunt’s attic, Samuel must navigate, with the help of Ibsen the Elkhound, this new and terrifying environment… and at all costs he must avoid the evil Changemaker. Samuel begins the story angry with the changes forced upon him and as such he gives his Aunt Eda a very hard time – but as he journeys through the forest and faces his own fears he realises that he may have lost his parents but he still has a family.
“Aunt Eda walked from the wardrobe to Samuel, and bent down until his face was level with his. As Samuel looked into her eyes, he felt his heart beat start to quicken. His question about the forest had a transforming effect on his aunt, making her face look so stern it could have been carved from stone. ‘Don’t mention that place,’ she said in the most serious voice Samuel had ever heard. ‘Don’t let your mind think what is inside there. When you go outside, you must stay on the grass, where I can see you. Both of you. This is the most important rule I will tell you. Never go in the forest. And don’t talk about it ever again. Do you understand?’ “ Excerpt from Shadow Forest
Shadow Forest features lots of humour mixed in with with some superbly gross parts (such as exploding heads). Matt Haig’s quirky style of writing makes this an exciting and most enjoyable read. Haig has added some really nice touches such as including himself in the list of characters at the beginning of the book and indeed interjecting the ensuing chapters with little author’s interruptions, which prove just as entertaining as the main story rather than stalling the momentum. These “interruptions” add more substance to his fantastical tale. This book is a definite for any child who enjoys being fully immersed in a world of myth and magic.
I’ve read a book called “each little bird that sings” by Deborah Wiles and its my favourite book!
10 year-old Explorer, Recipe Tester, and Funeral Reporter, Comfort Snowberger’s family lives in Mississippi, in a funeral home, which is also owned by her family. Her family consists of her father Bunch, her mother Joy, her older brother Tidings, her little sister Merry, and her much-loved ‘funeral dog extraordinaire’, Dismay. Comfort had attended 247 funerals, and has a best friend named Declaration, and a whining cousin named Peach, whom she dislikes. When Uncle Edisto and Aunt Florentine die, there’s only one person who really takes it seriously—Peach. Comfort is very worried about funeral 248, as she has to take care of Peach after the funeral. All Comfort wants to do is hide in her closet with Dismay. All of a sudden, Declaration turns downright mean, and Comfort realizes that a true friend was there all along—Peach. On the way to the funeral, Declaration upsets Peach enough to get both him and Comfort to run away, where they face danger in the newly, much-deepened Snapfinger Creek. In order to save Peach, Comfort tells Peach to let go of Dismay as he is drowning them both. Dismay floats down the stream alone, and goes missing. Comfort is heart-broken. The family sends a search party for Dismay. Comfort and Peach both fall sick and soon Declaration realises her mistake. But too late, Comfort is never going to forgive Declaration and sends back rather mean letters to Declaration’s pleading ones. Dismay’s collar is found by Declaration, close to a drainage ditch near Lake Tallyhoma. Knowing he is dead, Snapfinger holds a memorial in service for him. The story ends later on a Thanksgiving Day when Comfort and Peach are going to Listening Rock when they meet Declaration who is willing to make up with Comfort. Cofort and Declaration make up and Peach becomes a better person in Comfort’s eyes. The book tells about how death is a part of life, and how life is full of surprises and the biggest one of all is learning what it takes to handle them.
